Course Description: 

Direct pulp capping is a treatment for exposed vital pulp using a dental material such as calcium hydroxide, bonded composite resins, and mineral trioxide aggregate to facilitate both the formation of reparative dentin from odontoblasts and the maintenance of vital pulp. However, clinical outcomes of direct pulp capping involve a great deal of uncertainty regarding the survival potential of vital pulp. This course will fill in some of the gaps of the knowledge in direct pulp capping.

Dr. Takashi Komabayashi received DDS degree from the University of Hiroshima in 1998, PhD in dental material from Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 2002, DDS from University of California San Francisco in 2005, and Certificate and M.Dent.Sc. in Endodontics from University of Connecticut in 2008.
