Description: Our overall wellness is key to thriving in our personal and professional lives. Our ability to be resilient despite all of the challenges and adverse experiences we have are key in our overall and long-term wellness. Participants will have the ability to walk away from the workshop with greater insight into their wellness and how to utilize their challenges to build resilience moving forward.

Educational Objectives:

By the completion of this course, each participant should be able to . . .

  • Explore what individual wellness can be in both their personal and professional lives.

  • Identify skills and strengths that can be utilized in both at home and at work.

  • Discover the areas that are most challenging.

  • Promote using a solutions oriented approach addressing a “Yours, Mine, and Ours” perspective.

Guy R. Cousins, LCSW, LADC, CCS

Guy has been in the behavioral health field since 1983. He has an undergraduate degree from the University of Maine at Fort Kent & a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Dundee, Dundee, Scotland. He has lived and practiced in Italy, Scotland & the US in school based, community based, residential, and hospital based services working with adults, children, adolescents, couples & families.

 

He is the former Director of the State of Maine Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services and served as the Single State Authority for Substance Abuse Services and Mental Health Services. Guy is currently a full time Senior Lecturer at the University of Maine at Augusta teaching Addictions & Mental Health Counseling. He is also the Director of the Medical Professionals Health Program assisting medical professionals whose practice may be affected by mental health and substance use issues. Guy is active in the community serving on various Boards and Commissions and coaches’ high school tennis at a local school.
